    Hello to everybody,

This is my first post because errors is not something I know a lot about.I hope that one of your members can help.I have aquired a one Euro coin (Italian 2002)which not does not have the second metal insert. It is all one color. It does not appear to have been manipulated in any way.I have included an image and would appreciate any info, rarity, value etc.

    Thanks

    Eoin

Does its weight differ from a normal coin? Is the center portion attracted to a magnet? Is the core (kernal) of a normal 1 Euro attracted to a magnet?

It is more likely this coin is plated that that it is real...the metal seems to be of a different colour to that customarily used !

    (aka: MAD).

I am sorry, I re-read the above, and originally missed the part about the center (insert).
    Never mind.

Theoretically it could be a €1 coin on a wrong planchet. But the coin may very well be a regular bi-met piece that was just "modified" by one of its owners. Heat and especially various chemical substances can do wonders.
