Dear Friends and Collectors; Today I received a message from our friend Bob Connor's son, Chris. Chris has informed me that Bob passed away on April 13, 2011. I for one will miss Bob greatly. He always encouraged me during my illness and shared in the joy of Paper Money with many of us here on CoinTalk. I am deeply saddned by this news and ask that friends of Bob Connor (Connor1) please post a message for the family here. I will always remember Bob and the times we spent setting up the Security Engravers Group, a Group that he truly loved and advocated. During my illness he and his wife Madonna said special prayers for me and I for him as he shared the troubles he was going through with me. Bob was a brave man, a loving Father and a true Collector. I would like to offer the following Prayer to him and his Family; Psalm 23 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. May the Lord watch and kep him in comfort in the house of the Almighty God. One day I hope to meet him there... Rest in Peace My Friend, I shall always remember you as long as I dwell upon this Earth. RickieB
Amen. Thank you for letting the forum know, RickieB. We will all miss such a fine, upstanding member.
Oh God No. Not Connor. I'm so sadened to hear this Rick. I know that he was a tremendous support to you during your illness. I can't believe it that he's gone. Gone, maybe in substance, but not in spirit. He will live on in our memories of him and his writtings and all of the good things he did and stood for. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
Though I didn't know him, my most sincere condolences go out to his family. I hope, in time, the heartbreak, while it will never be able to be fixed, can be repaired enough so they can move forward. The whole family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
My sincerest condolences to the Conner family. This is a sad day, and a great loss to all who knew Bob.
So often, when we post here, we've absolutley no idea about what age (sometimes gender) that poster might be. We might have an inkling that a poster is old or young (male or female), but we really don't know for sure unless we know that particular poster on a personal level. I didn't know Connor on a personal level, but I always enjoyed reading what he wrote. And by those writtings I judged him a young person. Too young to pass. I'm deeply sadened tonite........
This is very sad news indeed. Connor1 was a great contributor to this site as well as a great comfort to you, Rickie. My condolences to Connor's family. He will be greatly missed.
Along with everyone else, I enjoyed Bob's posts and interaction on the forum. My condolences to his friends and family. Dave
I've added one of his great posts to the "Best of CoinTalk" in his memory. Though he is in a better place now, he will certainly be missed.
My condolences to Bob's family. He was among the nicest people I have met here and he will be missed.
Well said Rickie. I did get the chance to meet Conner personally I did get the chance to trade notes with him in the past. I will cherish those notes even more then before. He was very nice and a great addition here. Not only will I miss him but the Engravers and all of Coin Talk will. I hope the family can take some solace knowing he is in a better place.
Thank you for the time we had together and all your efforts enhancing the lives of others. You are missed.
Rest in eternal peace dear friend Bob and I traded a great many PMs here on CT. He had tremendous character and immense respect for his fellow collectors. He was a delight, a guiding figure and encouraged many ideas and directions for me to focus on in my budding interests in paper collecting, the SEG group and in the sharing of numismatic knowledge. Thank you Bob Conner. You meant so very much to so very many of us who carry you in our hearts and memories. My sincerest condolences to the family for your loss. Regards, Chris/krispy
I,am utterly shocked and saddened to hear this tragic news! Bob was the one that first introduced Me to Coin Talk after purchasing some Mpc,s from me, he invited me to come aboard and i gladly Did he showed me the ropes and i thank him for that! a great friend to me and many others here At Coin Talk, i will miss him greatly R.I.P (Connor-1)
Losing Bob is a loss to our community. my condolences to his family. He will be missed many places I am sure
It is very sad news! I traded messages with Bob early this year and he at the time said he was doing good. I knew he wasn't doing well but was keeping it positive. I think about Bob every day. I have the award from Bob and RickieB on my desk at home from the first round of SEG presentations. It is a constant reminder to focus on learning and sharing. That is what Bob inspired in many of us here that read or wrote posts in the paper money forum. Every time I am out looking to pick up a new piece with a unique or popular engraving I think of the group Bob helped put together. My condolences to his family and close friends! Bob was a special guy who often thought of others even when he was suffering. He was a really good guy that many here enjoyed sharing our hobby with. I know this hobby is a foreign thing to those that are not involved but it can have a positive impact on those that are influenced by members that give back. Bob always gave more and was rewarded in how we embraced the idea that it is more than just buying cool objects or trying to make a buck by buying low and selling high. Even when his heath was a daily struggle he would stop in and offer encouraging words. In the event that you didn't understand why he spent time collecting/learning about security engraving I hope the comments of the other members and mine can help you understand this one passion amongst I am sure many others. I am so very sorry for your loss! Fair Winds and Following Seas My Friend!
