Isn't there a demand or name for this? Kennedy Freestanding R Error

Seems like I remember seeing somewhere that on the Kennedy Half dollar that sometimes the R above his head in LIBERTY was separated from his hair and there was some kind of demand for that error. Am I remembering correctly? I tried to find something on it but my search is not turning up any results. I don't really know what to search for though....

By any chance, are you confusing it with the "Pegleg" Ike?

I bet I am. I knew I had heard of something to do with the R but I couldn't recall. Thanks.

I do not recall ever hearing this but, if it were so, I would not be surprised.

Lots of folks build all sorts of different "hype titles" to hawk their wares. Some catch on, like the three legged Buffalo which is a "not so obvious die state", while others do not, like the "Floating Hair" Washington quarters which is really nothing more than persistent die abrading.

Die State anomalies can be confusing and enticing to most newbie collectors.

That's as succinctly as I've ever heard it put. :)
