Well considering that pre-1965 dimes and quarters were 90% silver, its got some value. Early Roosevelt coins that are in very fine condition are usually about 2$, and the good thing is that your coin appears to be in that condition!

Looks like it has nice color! I'd like to see some good close up pics to see that rainbow pop! Congrats. Maybe Dimefreak can help you with value on this one.

I doubt the rainbow toning is going to help a circulated coin much. But I could be wrong as I have paid premiums for circulated toned Mercury Dimes.

Yeah, I haven't any idea on the value of it, as noted. I was just impressed with the possibility of color it may be capable of displaying. :smile

IMO, the toning won't pull much of a premium, but if sold at the right time it can fetch a few bucks (your offer of $5 sounds about right). The coin's cheap to begin with, so that's a nice little gain percentage wise -- I'd guess circulated 48 dime is just worth a little above spot.

p.s. it looks very attractive, and if I were trying to collect toned coins on a budget this is EXACTLY the type of coins I would look for.
