is this woodgrain?

    I have only seen this on pennies,never on a quater.

    It sure looks like one, but I would guess that it is not due to improper alloy mix.

    Agree. I'd stick it in a 2x2 anyways myself. Cool looking at any rate. Never seen it on a quarter like that. I've got some 40% Jeffy's that have light woodgrain, but its just natural non-alloy-caused stuff.

    I think jeffersons are 35%

    Aside from war time nickels, they are 75% copper and 25% nickel.

    My mistake for not being clear. I meant wartime nickels not the regular ones.
