Hi, Could you guys let me know if this coin may have been cleaned and if it is falsely toned? What is the possible grade or price I could get for it? Shoud I send it into ANACS?

i want to say yes. based on the over all look of the coin. "the detail " But im on my laptop right now. the screens not nice as on my desktop. I am interested in that floating peice of leaf on the right edge of the wreath on the reverese. my advice is to send it with a few other coins you know will grade for sure. that way if this one dosnt, youll at least not loss out on the shipping. As far as i know anacs will not charge you if you get it back with no grade.

I believe that your coin has been cleaned, and retoned. I do think regardless of that, it would probably get graded an au-58.

I dont think its been toned. Good source to ask: www.rcnh.com. He helped me with a questionably toned winged merc dime. Very professional

I would say cleaned and retoned. If ANACS decides it's cleaned and retoned, they will only denote "Retoned" on the label.

A polished /cleaned silver coin that has had a few seconds exposure to an ammonium sulphide solution will look just like that coin.

Any toning produced by that method is `natural'. It's just that nature receives a chemical `assist' to speed up the normal process.

I'm not saying that this particular coin has been so processed, but it certainly looks like it to my eye.

I have seen coins in old Wayte Raymond albums that were toned multi-colors like that.
Could be okay, but I got a coni back as artificial from the 'experts' as artificially toned that was in an old brown envelope for years and also toned.
They just don't like toning on both sides.
