Ok...so I got this 1941 S Jefferson nickel in some change yesterday. Is this the large "S" or the small "s"? And does anybody know ..in this condition ...a value?
This is the large S. Here is a link to a post from a nickel expert from our site. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/variety-1941-s-large-s-jefferson-nickel-fs-501.213511/
I didn't mention value, but this coin would be less than a dollar from what I see. I have a small S but no large! Nice find. You should start a date set if you haven't.
HECK YEAH!!! Thanks yall! Its bout time I start getting some validation behind my inquiries. Lol. So good job n thanks so much. Date set it is.
I also have a 1942 Lincoln penny that has never been touched by a naked hand. I can say this because of the perfect condition...as well it was in a glass jar when I was given it as a gift.
The Large S were only produced for a short period of time. As a result, most 1941S Jefferson Nickels were small S. From my coin roll searching days, less than 1-in-10 were large S. And based on condition, the value of the large S can be 10x higher than small S.
Thanks guys. I appreciate your responses. I have also found another 1941 nickel with no mint mark already in my collection. (I keep my coins in a jar still) lol. But for some reason the nickel is what I have the most verity of. (Of 3 different designs.)
