I work at a bank so i come across lots of star notes and older money. Is this worth anything over face value?
I'm glad you asked Andy, and welcome to the Paper Money area of Coin Talk. Short answer, no additional value over face. Many collectors here keep all the star notes they find, but in it's condition, and because of it's condition, it's a spender. In uncirculated condition it might be worth $25 to $35.
Even after they are declared worth something, you have to find a buyer who agrees with it. With only a $20 premium each, I have two $100 star notes that are consecutive serial numbered and uncirculated as well, but haven't had any interest even though they are listed on this site. The value is finalized only after they sell, and selling them is a waiting game that can take considerable time. So even if your note had a $25 collector premium, what you may purchase with it, can hold more immeadiate value. Especially notes from a current series.
