I found this in a roll a while back and just rediscovered it. It's frosted (textured) across the whole field ( front and back). I haven't been able to find anything on line about it. Maybe I don't know what to call it... any help would be great.
    Thanks guys.

Did you look up what proof coins look like? Looks nothing like yours, did you use a scanner? If so we wouldn't be able to tell

Things don't get minted 'proof' most times at Denver. Most notably, this one........

First, welcome to the neighborhood @1rollwonder !

It looks like it could be one of the coins from an Uncirculated Mint Set. 2005 was the first year that the Mint attempted to use a satin finish on all the coins of these sets. I believe that this finish was discontinued about 2010. (Someone correct me, if I'm wrong on the date.)

You should also know that regular business strikes were still produced during these years.

Looks like a coin that has been exposed to acidic environmental conditions

This. The "finish" on this coin does not resemble any "satin" finish the Mint has ever applied; it's far too grainy.

I find mint cents all the time in circulation, including several newer S marks, never a mat finish.

Dave, I suggested this as a possibility because you must admit that we have seen plenty of images on these forums of coins that have been subjected to all sorts of environmental conditions that have affected the surfaces. Don't you think it is possible that this might have been a satin finish that was dumped into circulation?

I'm voting satin finish from a mint set. Definitely not proof (those are only struck at San Fran for circulating issues (non-commemorative and non-bullion)).

I agree. This coin could have been minted for a 2005 Mint Set and just dumped into the circulation bag, or circulated after someone opened a Mint Set.

The surfaces look more likely that than bag marked with that many marks.
