I just got a series 2009 $1 FRN with a cool number. K 10631064 D Is this worth holding onto? It's crisp but has folds. Thanks.
If it interests you, then keep it. But to a collector who would want a "fancy serial number" it has no additional value.
I have a 1 Dollar Bill that I picked up in the late 1970's while working as a Bartender. It is a 1974 Issue, and the Serial Number is G 66666566 C. Used to play Liar's Poker with it for fun... Never used it to actually take money off of anyone though.. I have another 1974 Issue 1 Dollar Bill, the front is normal, but the back of the bill is yellow. Also have a brand new 1981 Issue 20 Dollar Bill with the numbers 10 on it... The lower 10's are smudged, so I kept it thinking it is an error. One of these days - soon - hope to get my camera out and start taking some pics to post to show some of this stuff. Robert
Everytime I play that I pick the note with eight different numbers! I would have to search 20K at the bank to find one when I'm not playing poker? Al Bundy has nothing on my grey cloud!
Robert, Skip the camera and use a scanner, if you have one or can get access to one, as it works better for imaging notes, showing details and doesn't require rigging up a camera, lighting, and so on. When scanning, place the note on the glass of the scanner, away from the edge of the scan bed. Lay a dark sheet of paper over the note to help define the margins of the note and scan at 300 dpi. Upload image size should be at 600 pixels on the longest side of the note (scan). A lot of us use Photobucket (free accounts) for hosting images as they don't resize the file as much as does CTs uploader. BTW, Welcome to CT and more importantly the Paper Money section of CT. :smile
krispy! Thank you for the scanner suggestion. Yes, we have a scanner here. It is set up with my wife's computer, and she's on it all the time, so I'll give my bills to her and ask her to scan them when she gets a chance. I'll post them when she gets it done. Robert
Well, 20K is a bit of an exaggeration...if you do the math, roughly one out of every 55 bills will have eight different digits in the serial.
Trust me, I wouldn't find one even with 55 to 1 odds... BTW: My TV blew up today, and my power supply in my server literally blew up (Mushroom Cloud and all) yesterday. Trust me, I wouldn't hit it!
