I want to start collecting errors and was wondering if there is a lot of fraud conssiting of copper platting? Does this auction look legit? Thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320124571560&rd=1&rd=1
wow, he has some pretty funky errors up for bid tonight http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZkenmank
Yep~It looks legit to me - The other errors they are selling also makes me believe they have a pretty good idea for what is real- ..... UNLESS THEIR WHOLE LIST OF ITEMS IS ALSO A SCAM .....HMMMMMMM J/K
I don't actively collect errors but these look legit. On the other hand with so many people sellinng "scam" errors I wouldn't buy it unslabbed except in obvious cases like "off center" coins. I'd also want a reputable slab.
DJCoins, i'm trying to learn, how can you tell from those pics it's not,my first thought would have been 4000 + 99.9% feedback ? how could it not be.......................i'm looking at the FB not the coin...because i can't tell anything from the pic!:desk:
The quarter missing a clad layer may be authentic. You need to ask for a weight. A genuine example should weigh about 4.7 grams. Some of his other errors are real while others are not.
if it were real you would think he would post the weight, and a couple of better pics........... oops.better late then never...
He pulled the listing.. Hmm... However I will say this is a VERY easy error to fake, ( I won't give specifics as I don't think general population needs to know how to do it) It can be faked in a matter of minutes! So in my book authentication is a must...
The reason I say it isn't is because the pics are too small to tell and you'd need to know the exact weight to know for sure.
