    Looks like a post mint damage and not an error.

    Now that is one ugly messed up coin. It looks clipped but not from the mint, maybe someone with a chisel.

    It's pretty smart of the Mint to make coins that melt away under certain conditions like zinc does.

    yup, that is why they continue to make them.

    As they rot away, the coins are 'written off' form the ledger and eventually they (the gov't) will eliminate the national debt!
