If you have a scale, weigh it and also put it on a regular cent and if it is lighter and less in diameter, it is acid etched, either on purpose or in environment. Does not have evidence of a foreign planchet to me. How is it affected? Jim

Nope its on a American made planchet. Just damaged. Ways shkw both sides of any coin you have questions about.
I agree with those comments already made - damaged by environmental exposure - acidic conditions or some other. When you want to check for the possibility of struck on a foreign planchet, weighing the coin is a first step, as has been suggested.
