    It's worth one cent, if you spend it quickly.

    Something has ground off the surface copper plating, exposing the zinc underneath. As soon as it gets a little sweat or ground water on it, it'll start to corrode away.

    Do you maybe have a chair with a slightly wobbly stance? It could be of tremendous value as a shim, with a little Super Glue to stick it on the short leg.
