is this my first fake coin?? date on obverse says 2000......yet I can't find any internet record of mint producing a five ounce silver coin prior to the ATB in 2010......also notice in second pic of reverse that it says "ounce" instead of "ounces"....maybe like someone with poor English skills would pronounce?.........and in the third pic notice that some of the reeds are missing..........those with opinions please opine
I am wondering if it is actually silver though,,,,,,,,,,,,,or a chinese fake.............maybe silver plate?????? don't care so much about the other stuff as I do that it is indeed 5 troy ounces of silver
Looks too "chrome"y to be silver, looks like the infamous Dale Earnhart 5 (copper) ounce silver rounds.
River City Coins sells these art rounds for 270.00..... http://www.rivercitycoins.com/silverrounds/coinrelated/CoinRelatedSR.html I have no idea who makes them.
what is the weight? put it on a jewelers scale and let us know. get the weight before you do chemical tests.
It's real, I believe cast, but not Government issued. Probably from a private mint... I don't care unless I can get it from a reputable private mint for less than melt.
Appears genuine, privately minted and a little pricey at $270.00 ($54.00/oz). I had to scroll almost to the bottom of the link to find this particular "round".
