Is this machine doubling

    My current vote is Longacre Doubling but your photos need better lighting and a little clarity. Can you get one of the date please?

    I was under the impression that Longacre Doubling surrounded the letters and/or design elements. This looks like ordinary machine doubling to me.

    I do believe this to be a S-1 as the inner 8 can be seen and the location of the 7 is the same as the S-1 as the location of the 7 on the S-2 is different.

    I was looking at other S-1 Eagles and didn't see the doubling so I was wondering.

    We can't see it in the photos, but look at the rim for a lip. When MD occurs, there tends to be a lip on the rim in the same direction and degree of machine doubling. I agree it is most likely MD and must be the S1.

    You're right Chris , you'd see it on both sides , this id regular MD .
