Hello can you all help me ? I am trying to verify this certification # on ANACS web site but I am having issue's ??? Does it look like the date & a few star's is doubled
It seems like their Lookup Website is down or not working. After researching your slab more, it looks to be 1990's, some places say as late as 2003. It should work in their system when there site is up.
The white slab was used well into the new millennium. Conder could probably narrow it down for you. Doug, the light color along the outer edges of the stars, date and some letters is just an artifact of the toning. It has a special name, but I can't remember what it is right now. Chris
Thanks for all your time & feedback it is a great help as I am new to collecting coin's. What's your thoughts on this Morgan ?
If it were not questionable color I think it could be MS-63 maybe MS-64. But unfortunately, a person tried to give it "rainbow toning" artificially trying to make it more valuable and PCGS Knew. I'm not sure though, the toning looks like it could be natural, but I can see why PCGS thought something was up with it.
It looks like someone attempted to add the blue toning to the 1886 to simulate the "Ti-D-Bowl" look. I think it's AT, too. Chris
GREAT I just can NOT buy anything that is not slabbed ! I am always looking for a good deal but it's not working out for me.
I think he was referring to the slabbed 1886. The raw 1886 looks fine. I assume the light blue stuff is a reflection from somewhere. The raw 1885 looks cleaned, though.
The 1885 looks cleaned based on the photos (no luster and washed out surfaces), the 1886 is nice and full of luster, I would say it is MS-63, Maybe MS-64.
The price for a slabbed common date MS-63 by PCGS or NGC is around $55-$65 (I pay $50 at my shop), the price for a common date MS-64 is around $70-$75 (I payed $60 at my shop)
