Its a reproduction and has "copy" stamped on it, but I was under the impression no fakes are allowed on ebay? Is this repro allowed? Linkf or those curious : https://www.ebay.com/itm/144273426888?hash=item21975dc9c8%3Ag%3AdwgAAOSwGcVhgD2X&LH_Auction=1
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/replica-coins-currency-policy?id=5042 The policy goes on to say, and I think this might be a more recent change: This would seem to have implications for the buying and selling of counterstamped coins and hobo nickels...!
eBay makes up their own rules as they go. LOL If there is a profit to be made, the rules go out the window.
The fakers and sellers in China put these auctions up and have images of coins with "Copy" on them in the guise that they are selling them as such. But if you send them a request they will leave "Copy" off the examples they send you.
No, they are not allowed on eBay regardless of how they are described or if stamped COPY. As a side note there have been "copies" that have been worn down and tooled to sell as genuine low grade examples...
Their rules don't allow it even though it's legal, but honestly who cares. It's sold as a reproduction and even stamped copy, if someone wants to buy that thats their choice
