    Hello everyone,

I found this 1965 dime and thought it was pretty cool looking, and was wondering if this is considered a tone coin?

    Thank you

Yes it is. When they look like that it's a fairly safe bet that it was either exposed to heat or chemicals. Cool coin to build a collection from though.

It looks artificially toned to me, but it may have been accidentally exposed to something like bleach, which the coin doctors have been known to use.

Nearly all old coins have toning to one degree or another. The question is does the coin have a look for which someone will pay a premium?

This one doesn’t have it. As for those which do, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Many pieces, which have the brightest colors, are artificially toned. Natural toning is usually more muted.
