Is this considered a lamination error?

    silver outline around the words and numbers? Is that called a lamination error?

    Not a Lamination Error. 1992 is a Copper Plated Zinc Cent. Because of a worn Die.. aka Die Deterioration Strike, you see a plating issue. The plating has shifted and you can see the Zinc underneath.

    'split-line' plating.


    As PM98 said above, depending on various
    factors, sometimes the copper-plating (very
    thin) sometimes 'splits' (or pulls) apart from
    the zinc core.
