Going through a bunch of SBAs, I came across 3 coins that have "ONE DOLLAR" doubled in some way. Mech. dbling?

    SBA doubling

I have seen several like that. Yes, it is "mechanical doubling" and happens when the die SLIGHTLY shifts or there may have been a slight groove made by the engraver's tools into the die...not really worth a premium unless the serifs of the letters become STRONGLY split. (However, get a bunch of them together and people go nuts over them on eBay...LOL!!!)
