ok, I can't make the photo larger. I have tried but it seems some settings on ebay will not let me capture the photo. The coin is listed as a 2013 American Silver Eagle PCGS PR 70 signed by John Mercanti. The # is 516925.70/27758055. I searched the Number on PCGS and the coin is a legitamate PR70 but PCGS does not state that it is a Mercanti signed coin. The Ebay seller states that there are only 28 of these coins. Is this a Fake or is this a true statement. Thanks for your help and I am sorry for the tiny Pics.
I bought this coin this morning. I was not sure if it is real or a fake. I just stopped payment and filed return case with Ebay. I hope I did the right thing. I am new to coin collecting (That is why I came to this forum for help)
I have a PCGS 2010 PR69DCAM cent that was signed by the designer. When I looked it up on the PCGS Cert Verification it didn't say it was signed. Also, did you try looking up other coins like yours that are signed on eBay and searching their numbers on the PCGS website? If none of them mention the fact that they're signed then I would think that PCGS just doesn't post that. Not sure if this will help, but it's just a thought.
I paid 235.00, The problem is as I stated earlier in the Thread. The number did not match a Mercanti signed coin. The number on the slab is legit for a PCGS PR 70.
scotts 1, I did that, ebay had a different seller with the same coin and I searched that number and It showed up as a Mercanti signed coin. (pop 28)
What are you worried about... because it says 'holder type: standard'? It may simply be an error in their DB or they just don't mention signatures there. I would drop them (PCGS) an email to check.
You are right, I just looked another one up myself and it does say "Mercanti Signature" on the Cert Verification. Never mind then, I was just throwing out an idea.
If you bought it, I wonder why it is still listed for sale? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-W-PROO...11996?pt=US_Bullion_Coins&hash=item35d8bb2c9c As for supposedly filing a case, why not first talk to the seller, contact PCGS, or better yet, not buy first and ask questions later?
Buyers like you are what's wrong with ebay. You just caused a huge headache for that seller, and he did nothing wrong. Any cases filed against sellers hurt them.
Nothing wrong with being a new too collecting but do your homework before you buy. In the eyes of Ebay you just caused this seller negative input which in the end hurts him in every way. Not sure why you just did not ask the seller before you bought. Over 15,000 positive transaction with a 100% rating and you do this
