is this bizarre toning?

I have a commemmorative silver set that I pulled out of a box, and the coins look gold. I don't mean like actual gold, but they are more gold looking than silver. I know there is no gold in this coins, or on the surface, but I was wondering if this toning was common, or even better yet if it is artificial.

Looks normal to me - but I have a question. You say you pulled them out of the box, were the coins still sealed in the cellophane ?

No, they had just been sitting in a wooden box for a fair amount of time as they came out of my mom's attic.

Normal for the conditions they were in. I like them.

Well the reason I was asking is this, you mentioned they were from the silver set. But the coins appear to be clad versions based on the toning. That type of toning is much more typical for clad coins than it is for silver. You can find out for sure by weighing the coins.

I think the coins but be clad. I weighed the dollar and it weighs 24.596123 grams
