I found a unique 2005D Buffalo nickel today while roll searching and was wondering if this was a common error or what might have happened to this coin.

I looks like the die when this nickel was stamped was either very shallow or this particular coin did not stamp the way it was supposed to. I'm not sure what to make of it other than it's unique when compared to the other 2005D's I've found.

My guess would be a strike through. Most likely struck through grease.

I would think the same thing, a struck through.

Is this good? Bad? Unique? Worthy anything more than any other 2005 Buffalo back? I am incredibly new to this and didn't see any mention of an error in the 05's in the red book. Is this a pretty common phenomenon? I appreciate the help guys. I'm going to keep it because it's different than anything I've found, but I have a ton of questions.

On EBay it might bring a couple of bucks. Minor strike through's are just about the most common error we see.
