Is this an error or just circulation wear

This is a 1911 penny. It appears cracked. Odd thing as it does not extend out past the inner rim. Penny is not bent nor does it appear as if it ever was. Besides the normal wear of a 1911 penny, it having a crack seemed odd.

Can you post a better pic? Does look like a lamination crack, but too hard to tell.

Maybe this is better took it out of 2x2. Also appears to be missing the L in Liberty.

    Looks like a die crack.

Is it common not to have the L in Liberty and does it classify as a error coin?

Is it worth more than $0.01 :)

I haven't seen a 1911 with the missing "L" before. Cool find. Filled die errors usually do not bring a premium. With the amount of wear on this coin, it really has lost most of its numismatic value. Because of the interesting details that it does have, I would suggest holding on to it, or pass it along to a collector. Don't spend this one :D

Definately a lamination caused by impurities in the metal. ~ Jim
