Is this an error coin? 1988 penny

See the line through the words "In god we trust" I dont if its an error or not.

That's what a coin struck from a worn or
overused die looks like....

Not an error - sorry -- it's 'as struck'

It's a form of die deterioration, very commonly seen on the zinc cents but it does show up sometimes on other coins as well.

 

Can you look at my other posts which is the 1997 d penny and give me your opinion please.
