I found this while looking through some wheat penny rolls. To me it looks like a small broadstrike, but can anyone tell me what error this is, if an error at all? Please enlarge the photos and compare it to another picture I took of another 1955-D wheat penny. The pictures on top show the regular penny.
that coin is a former lucky penny, the type with the aluminum collar around it.The reason the rim looks like that is that the aluminum collar is crimped onto the cent. Post mint damage.
I have several coins saved that I found in rolls/lots that I have no way of knowing if they are real errors or simply damaged. I am not that good at telling them apart and am always looking to find out what they are. Now I can cross off one more.
