I have eBay searches set up for Kennedy Doubled Die listings and without fail, I get a constant barrage of listings such as the one below: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130665361315&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123 The coin in the listing is NOT a doubled die but simple machine doubling which has no value. Do listings like this present an opportunity to educate eBay sellers or should one "mind their own business"?
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. At the same time, you can explain the origin of the universe to an idiot, but do you really think they will care? Chris
FWIW, I have a couple of times (3) tried to tell someone that their listing will get pulled if they do not ............ So far I am batting 100% at getting banned from bidding on their auctions (and 100% that their auctions were pulled). I do not even try anymore.
I did email this seller but have not received a reply. I never tell or even suggest that someone end or cancel their listing as most folks truly do not know the difference between machine doubling and a doubled die. I did send a link to Wexlers web page descibing useless doubling though. http://www.doubleddie.com/144822.html IMO, its up to the seller to determine if s/he wants to continue the listing after I've tried to "edumacate" them but truth be told, they don;t knbow me from Adam. Some ignore, some get snotty and some are grateful for the information. The latter usually end their listings.
