Nope, pretty common to see that anomaly. It can sometimes be attributed to a worn die. Keep up the hunt!
Actually a worn hub. If a die wears and starts to spread the diameter from inner edge of the rim to the opposite inner edge may increase but the L does not get closer to the rim. If the Hub starts to spread though the diameter of the image of the design gets larger as more dies are hubbed. Then since the design is larger when they cut the edge of the die to form the part that makes the rim it IS closer to the L than normal. In extreme cases the rim almost removes the upright of the L. They should retire the hub before that happens though.
