In the area there is a prominent change in the die polishing. Both sides of this coin is covered in mis directional die scratches except for this area. It stands out like a sore thumb.
Seem too parallel and stright to be polishing lines, so, could they be roller lines that weren't struck out, or could they be die scrapes from feeder finger?
The way that area seems to be shinier than the surrounding area seems to indicate some sort of damage. It could be a wheel mark, but those don't tend to be quite so large (or shiny). I'm more inclined to think there was a spot and somebody took a jewelers rag and just wiped a spot (think of how you would polish a silver spoon, with a special cloth and make it shiny). The jeweler's cloth is impregnated with a fine powder called jewelers rouge that helps it shine and polish - and it leaves fine lines like you show.
I will take a look and try to find the other example. I bought a bank roll years ago and there were a few matching examples all in the same spot. It is on the die.
If you can show a couple with the same marks, then I will believe it could be on the die. (If you already know its on the die, why did you ask if it is a wheel mark? haha )
There are many coins that have been posted here in slabs that say damaged or details wheel mark, and no one can find evidence of the coin being damaged. I thought it had to do with something on the die.
