I'm currently bidding on this, it has the same reverse as a sovereign, but is copper. I don't have much other information yet. Pretty sure this is a medal, does anyone know anything about it? $_1.JPG $_1-1.JPG

If it is about as big as a quarter it is probably a gaming token (jeton). Too crude to be a fake. Possible metal if very large..

I also have a 1908 medal, made of copper, but completely the same design as a sovereign. I asked about it here a while ago, I will try to find my old thread.

My guess is that yours is a jeton.

It looks like a gaming token to me also. Queen Elizabeth died in 1901, so it's a bit odd that it would be a medal of any kind with a date of 1911. Also, the portrait of Queen Victoria and of St. George and the dragon are both pretty crude and low-relief for medallic issues.

What is the diameter? Jetons are smaller than 38mm.

Are you sure. Is that something "official" and written somewhere? Reason I ask is I have some Spiel Mark $20 jetons that are bigger.
