Is this a striking error / variety? (Walking Liberty Half)

I am perplexed by the reverse of this coin and the area above the foreground (left) wing of the eagle....directly underneath the word 'of'.

Does anyone recognize this feature and can tell me what it is, what caused it??

    BTW...this is a 1942 from Philly.

Your "anomaly" appears to be on the coin (after the fact) as opposed to being a part of it (occurred during striking).

Agreed! It also appears to be on the top of the right wing, almost like a stain or something.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

Although not an error, it is striking.
