Are the 1960 small dates quite common?

1960 small date cents were hyped as great investments in the early 1960's roll craze. They soared in price for a while peaking, if I remember right, at about $1200.00/roll. And that is in early 1960's money when a silver dollar was a silver dollar! They currently wholesale for around $85.00/roll of less in our over-inflated and debased federal reserve dollars.
