I would have to say not a silver proof set, just a proof set.

This set is not silver. Obviously the seller knows nothing of the coins' specifications. In the description he writes "SILVER PENNYS", and he isn't referring to steel cents. Weird to be selling coins without knowing what it is that you are selling...

Yes, the posting is very misleading. The 1970 proof set was the last year that the Kennedy half was 40% silver. In 1971, it went to copper nickel. Thus, nothing in the 1971 set could be classified as silver.

If your buyin silver proof sets put something in the classified ad section.

Like Phil Ham said in post #4, no silver in 1971. All are CuNi. (Cupro-Nickel)

This guy might just be throwing the word "silver" in the title just to get hits. Someone might accidentally (or ignorantly) bid on this item. The term `silver proof set' didn't exist until 1992. While there were silver proof sets before 1965, they didn't carry the label, because all coins above a nickel were 90% silver anyway.

Besides the errors in the description, the mislabelleing of the type of coin and no return address I'd say these 2 may be out of the country or something worse. I wouldn't buy here.
