Is this a real overdate or is this ebay seller trying to get a high price for a 1883 nickel. If he notices it how come pcgs didn't?
Yes it looks like it is the overdate. If you don't put 1883/2 in the variety slot in the submission form, they won't look for it and it won't be noted on the holder.
It looks correct to me. http://www.shieldnickels.net/1883_2/fs013_2.html Also, the seller welcomes all questions, so I wouldn't hesitate to take him up on that. They probably weren't paid to. Variety attribution is a seperate service, and must be requested.
There is another 3/2 that is far clearer, and more so in the eds. The other is closer to the 3 in the date. Not sure of this one.
