Hello, I know this photo isnt very good but this quarter has just a blob for a mintmark. the outline indicates it should be a D. there is no inside of the D just a D shaped blob. is this a minting error? do you need a better pic to be able to help? thanks in advance
Your photo is too blurry to be able to see much but if the 'D' mintmark is filled as you say it is probably a small die chip. It would not be a DDO (Doubled Die Obverse) because the die is not doubled. Before 1990/1991 mintmarks were punched into the Working Dies by hand so if the mintmark was doubled that would most likely be an RPM and not a doubled die. Hope that makes sense.
more photos thanks hobo. so the blob of a mintmark is probably a small die chip? am i safe to assume its basically just worth face value then?
