Is this a lamination error?

I found this war nickle a while back and thought it had a stain on it.

I gave it a better look the other day and noticed the "stain" was slightly lower then the rest of the metal.
Is it a lamination error or some kind of post mint damage?

Yes it is a lamination. Now take a closer look at the date and make sure that its not the 43/2.. : )

    Nice find...

    Thanks Jim M.

Already checked the date and its just a 43. Still not bad for 5 cents.

Just a note that laminations and die breaks are very common on war nickels due to the composition.

I scored this one last week. What would be the proper term for this? Defective Planchet?
