I just now saw this coin on Ebay and decided to share it with you good friends. The darn glue really has me worried on that awesome looking die gouge cent coin I'm trying to buy because I can't take it out of the coin holder to examine it. glue is fairely east to spot unless dirt or some type color get's mixed in with it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Roosevelt-Dime-Error-Penny-struck-Reverse-over-Dime-RARE-/280799947596?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D4%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5313929606212876451
I'm with you on that. it has already been done on my end. this same seller always has some weird things and he may not know any better.
I agree. I've found coins like that before and you can just take the glued portion off with your thumb nail. This seller has experience selling coins, I can't imagine they are this dense and don't realise that it is glue. Shame on them for being so unethical.
I'm with numismat, photoshop. It isn't a simple dime pressed into a cent or into glue on a cent because neither image is reversed. But it isn't a cent struck over a dime because none of the original strike has been flattened by a second striking. So it is either a photoshopped image, or someone made a negative impression of a dime, and then pressed THAT into a layer of glue on the cent.
The good thing is that the seller agreed to remove it from Ebay. this seller usually has some awesome coins and he keeps finding a few like this to mix in with the good ones. I told him if he don't know about error coins to ask someone before listing them for auction. this same seller has been doing this for as long as I can remember. I also told him the bad coins will keep buyers from buying his good item's and it's the truth. I have told him this same thing over and over during the past years and he keeps it up. Oh well
