Is this a fake greek coin?

Discussion in 'Ancient Coins' started by Juris Alsbergs, Nov 29, 2019.

  1. So I went into eBay and found this auction for a greek Philip II 359BC Olympic Games HORSE Race WIN coin. And I don't know if it's fake, because I can try to get it for a quite cheap price, and all the other coins from other sellers look to be in worse conditions and their prices are as high as 100+ dollars. Can you help me understand? the auction ends soon too. s-l500 (1).jpg

It is never safe to say a coin is definitely genuine just from a photo but this is a very common coin, overcleaned and not in the finest condition so it would be worth a lot less than $100 assuming it is genuine.

All of the below are Philip II and each cost me under $15 shipped. Not sure a $100 price tag is a good deal.

    Yours looks genuine, but overcleaned.

I got mine 5 years ago for $90 or so. I think it was a good price given the quality and style. Yours is similar in style.
