What caught my eye was the text THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on the bill to the right. The print seems digital, and without much detail. The bill on the left is presumed a real bill, for comparison. I recommend you zoom in a lot. I know little about bills, but the overall quality seems far inferior to the left bill. I tried wetting the bill, not much happened. The back looks great, nothing suspicious there. The front looks really good too, except for the text stated above, as well as the text FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE seems poorly printed as well. What do you think?
I was hoping that it was a fake one... although who would fake a $1. perhaps they had a bad batch of ink. zooming in, the letters are so poorly filled in.
i have a hundred $1s here and 99 of them are darker than the one i looked at. thanks for the help and expert opinion. it would be fun to hold an alternative production bill some day.
I checked to see if the signature was "JSG Boggs", just in case That's some serious over-inking. I'd definitely hang on to it as a neat example. Dave
I agree. The second printing seems to have bled all over the place (hehe). Check out the detail around the corners, especially around the number 1. The ONE DOLLAR at the bottom shows the same effect.
I recently brought 1700 $1 bills to the bank. The machine rejected two of them. I said "who would fake a $1 bill?" The teller replied " you would be surprised." Upon further inspection they were real. It makes me wonder what they come across on a daily basis?
