is this a die crack?

    You can see the arrow going UNDER the lower tip of the E and UNDER the upper left of the R in liberty. What could cause this? There really is no damage to these letters.

    Looks like an impurity in the planchet.

    A die crack is raised and is usually jagged. A die crack is not an entirely different color than the rest of the coin.

    :high5:THANKS but I still don't how it can be so straight. I'll try to send a better attachment. There seems to be something at the rim pointing up to it as if this is where it got its start but this is very hard to see much less to get in a picture from a scanner. with a 10x or better loupe I can see this vague buildup pointing to the arrow. Thanks for the quick response. zg
