Or did something else cause this strike? Both sides of the coin have a strong strike in the center, but along the edge it looks like a weak strike. There is a lot of striation, which leads me to believe the die was polished. What do you guys think?
Does the coin have proper alignment between obverse and reverse? I ask because near the leaves to the right of the torch on the reverse it appears to have ghosting (direct design transfer) from the obverse; however, the most apparent place it would seemingly mimic would be around Roosevelt's neck. Often times a rotated die can also result in features of the coin not filling correctly.
Man That one looks like about a 60% strike. I got some 2017D in change the other day that look like they were struck from fresh new polished dies. What a difference. Those dimes looked perfect. I didn’t look at them with a loupe but I’ll bet they were close to fully struck if not fully. They were gorgeous! This dime is not. I’m sorry swan your baby is ugly. Sincerely, Reed
