Not sure about the coin or the seller. Be cautious.
    Welcome to C.T. btw.

If you need an electron microscope to see the date, it's generally dateless. And watch out for some of the sellers items, the Combibar is overpriced.

Sorry but I'd rather fill that spot with an electrical knockout slug for free.

Anybody who marks their coins "very rare" or "ultra rare" and then shows coins of this quality or like his other nickels that are about as "ultra rare" as a banana you would buy in your local grocery store. I think i'd just move on to other more reliable sellers who more accurately mark their coins.

Who cares what the date is. The coin is so awful that it's hard to imagine who would want it. Someone working on a PCGS low-ball collection perhaps?

That seller has a roll of 1974 cents he says is rare. Since the coin in question is "extremely rare," then it's gotta be worth twice as much as the roll of cents.

    That sounds about right.

Pass on it. Examples with dates are out there for $100 or so...

Not 1799's. If you could prove this was a 1799, even in this condition it would be several hundred dollars (an AG will bring $1K or more.)

Unfortunately I think it is an 18 something

Yes. The seller's adding 1799 to the title was a feeble attempt at keyword spam.

Reminds me of a dateless "1856" Flying Eagle cent that I got in a junk bin.
