I have attached a pic of a quarter that looks like it has doubling. It is worn a bit, but the lines are distinct. Just asking the experts - thanks!
My opinion. Machine doubling, about the heaviest I've seen. I don't see any splits on the letters tips. But I'm no expert.
This is an awesome example of machine doubling. As Dockwalliper said, no splits, a good indication. Michael
I agree about no splits on the serifs, and that has me confused. Because mechanical doubling should produce flat, shelf like doubling - and this appears awfully rounded - at least the pics do.
Whoa. Awesome! I am not good at extiguishing doubling, but that is neat. How did you find it? Phoenix
I found this in pocket change from a King Sooper's here in Colorado Springs. That is just a regular picture with a 7x-35x scope looking at it. Thanks for the input so far! Jeff
I think this could be an example of Die Deterioration Doubling, which is why you don't see the shelf-like doubling. Larry Nienaber
It's die deterioration doubling. The orange peel texture is also consistent with this interpretation.
