Is this 1988 d penny transitional to 1989

I been reading up on transitional Lincoln cents and I came across some 1988 d pennies with the wide AM however on the reverse the initials are close to the memorial just like the 1989 d penny I have roughly 3000 1980-1989 pennies but only found 3 1988 pennies are these rare or something
