Hello! I am not necessarily a coin collector, but have been interested in coins for a very long time. My grandparents and I were going through a giant container of change that they have kept in their bedroom for over 20 years. I found this 1965 quarter (pictured on the right) in that container, and found the back of the quarter to be particularly interesting. There is a normal 1965 quarter pictured on the left for comparison. I noticed that the words on the back seem much bolder than the normal 1965 quarter. I didn’t notice much of a difference on the front of the coin, other than the fact that it’s in bad shape, but I included a picture anyway. What do you guys think?
Welcome To Cointalk IMO I'm not seeing any DDR on your coin let others take a look I do see PMD(POST Mint Damage) JMO Dave
I believe you're correct on the PMD. Possibly from a coin rolling machine or something else pressed the coin just inside the rim. A doubled die would show 2 distinct letters, not just flattened/wide letters
