I bought this in ebay at $50 but Im not sure that it's genuine or not....
But it looks real to me,but I only have 8reales made after 1877,so I can't identify it

Well it's kind of hard to tell without holding the coin in hand. I assume the reverse is the standard eagle-and-serpent with Republica Mexicana? Looks like a Go mintmark for Guanajuato, but the mark looks different on the only Guanajuato 8 Reales illustrated in the Std Cat. However, they did mint 8 Reales there for over 70 years, so maybe the mintmark evolved. Have to leave this for some real expert on Mexican coins, but I don't see anything obviously wrong. Pretty coin!

I agree. I don't see anything obviously wrong. I have about 30 of these that are real, and about 6 fakes, so if yours is a fake its better quality than my fakes are.

Have you weighed it? That is always the first step I take after checking its diameter.

The details on the 8 reales look correct for Guanajuato mint pieces from this time. As long as the weight is in the acceptible range, I wouldn't worry. The 4 reales picture is too small to examine.
