Got a 68 quarter here struck over some previous design ??? maybe someone out there can tell what it was originally. thanks for all your help .. lassiejames
I can see what you are talking about and it looks interesting , I can't get the images to enlarge enough to see what it really is.
there is a design there. Just don't have knowledge of enough coins to figure out which one it is. maybe someone will. i will try to get a better pic
okay everyone i've highlighted the design to try and let everyone get a better look at what i'm talking about. hope you can see it.
yeahhh maaann, that's the problem with the 60's, lol. You think NGS or someone like that could tell? I have 5 freebies for them. might be worth it.. It's weird, but there is absolutely a design there. I wish you guys could physically see it. CccRrrAaaZzzYyy
strike over thank you for that tidbit. Will take a closer look for sure. did't know there was such a thing. knowledge is a beautiful thing
THANKS FOR YOUR FEEDBACK. I checked it, and it is actually raised ......and awfully cemetrical to not be a design. Would chemical damage do that? the one pic we sent was highlighted just to try to show you all where to look. thanks again for all your help. lassiejames
There is such a thing as a strikeover. For example a quarter minted in one year struck on a quarter minted a previous year. What year is your quarter and how much does it weigh?
For practical purposes, no, a different design is not going to change the weight. Clad quarters weigh 5.67 grams. If your quarter is underweight, that could have an effect I agree, it does not look like another quarter or any other coin design. Looking at the ridges of the anomoly, it may be a strikethrough.
