I can see what you are talking about and it looks interesting , I can't get the images to enlarge enough to see what it really is.

Me neither... but a few times, back in the 1960's, I saw some really weird things.

yeahhh maaann, that's the problem with the 60's, lol;). You think NGS or someone like that could tell? I have 5 freebies for them. might be worth it.. It's weird, but there is absolutely a design there. I wish you guys could physically see it. CccRrrAaaZzzYyy

Looks like a stain or chemical damage to me.

THANKS FOR YOUR FEEDBACK. I checked it, and it is actually raised ......and awfully cemetrical to not be a design. Would chemical damage do that? the one pic we sent was highlighted just to try to show you all where to look. thanks again for all your help. lassiejames

There is such a thing as a strikeover. For example a quarter minted in one year struck on a quarter minted a previous year.

What year is your quarter and how much does it weigh?

    great post....never thought about weight. it's a 1968. and still weighs 5.6

another design would not change weight would it ?

OK. Does not seem to be silver. Perhaps it was struck on a 1965-67 quarter.

I really don't see anything that resembles another quarter ?

For practical purposes, no, a different design is not going to change the weight. Clad quarters weigh 5.67 grams.

If your quarter is underweight, that could have an effect

I agree, it does not look like another quarter or any other coin design. Looking at the ridges of the anomoly, it may be a strikethrough.
