Is There a Way to Get a High Resolution Copy of a TrueView I Didn't Order?

I found that some of my coins had TrueViews in the PCGS cert verification page. They are quite small. Is there a way to get the high resolution image?

Email PCGS and ask as services and charges can change

 

Considering TrueView is a paid service, I would think they'd make accessing them for free pretty difficult. No doubt in my mind they shoot every worthy coin (bulk ASE's? I doubt it) and have the images available, but not for free.

 

If the cert number is still active, plug it into the end of this address where the xxxxxxxx's are.
images.pcgs.com/trueview/xxxxxxxx

That will bring up the TrueView page with 4-5 size options.

This leads to the question of why anyone bothers to pay $10 for it, if you can have the images for free.

 

I assume someone has to pay the $10 first. Only after that does it become free to anyone that wants it.

 

Whenever I sell one of my coins that I've upgraded I tell the buyer it comes with the TrueView. I just count the TrueView as part of the grading fee.

The grading fee has also been paid for by a previous owner.

 

Nice racket as long as you're not the original owner.

 

At the risk of sending this thread into a copyright and licensing discussion, PCGS is touchy about re-use of TrueViews. Don Willis has said that the limited use license for the photos is only available to the person who originally paid for the photos. The link to PCGS's copy of the photos, however, can be accessed by anyone, so if you were to include it you probably wouldn't come down on the wrong side of their terms.
