I have been on this site for a few months now and there is one thing i have noticed across the board. If you start a thread with a legitimate question, ther will be as many people bashing others answers as there is good answers. I know that lends itself to the freedom of speech, but once in awhile can't we all just get along!!! god bless.:bow:

I don't know if I agree that bashing is common...I know it does happen from time to time but for the most part the members seem to stay civil. I know there is differing opinions and sometimes people can be a bit defensive...but usually it stays in check.

I don't see anything wrong with arguing a persons point though. It would happen in real life. Why not on here?
Conversations would be awful short if we all just agreed with opening post and didn't argue anything.

  6. I would not say I've seen much bashing on here. A little but not overly prevalent.

Some people cannot accept that there are other valid opinions and try to shout away every other dissenting opinion.

I completely disagree, what a ridiculous statement!

Lol, just joking. I agree with Camaro, and Snaz. I think CT stays civil 99% of the time, there are always different views, but that's life. And I have to say, for a online forum, CT stays amazingly civil, which is in thanks to Peter, the great mods, and most of the members. :thumb:

what i am saying is in the last week I have asked what I thought were 2 simple questions, and got several good answers but on each one had a few that treated me like an idiot. though others took to my defense. We have to remember that everyone is not a numismatic genius and simple questions are ok 2!!!:crying:

LOL. It was kind of a joke about some coins I recently posted. Didn't seem anyone knew much about them. I think most of the time a post will get answered, then the joking starts.:high5:

everyone has their own opinion on any given subject - and often times its not unanimous. With so many differing opinions around, there will almost always be some disenting dissagreements on a given subject - even this thread! Sometimes those discussions get heated - most of the time they do not. If things do get a bit over that imagineary line - we get the above warning :)

In the threads I start, I learn the absolute least when only one person replies with a detailed answer. Even if their answer does answer my question, I tend to learn the most when there is an "argument" and I can see both side of the argument. I can take a side and therefore discover my answer. Result: arguments are good...

Welcome to the Internet and the world of discussion forums....you must be new.

Discussion forums are like small slices of the real world. In the real world, we come into contact with a wide vareity of folks. Some of which, think we are idiots. There isn't much you can do about it ..they are out there and at times they go online to inflate their egos even more. Just develope a thick skin, and roll with it. Consider the source and laugh it off. There are bigger things in life to worry about and more deserving of your time and energy.

Many people go online to escape reality. For some people the online world IS their reality. Keep the real world in perspective and things will work out. While discussion forums are a great way to learn ..they are often used for entertainment purposes as well and the entertainment value of CT is a cup runneth over. There are some really wild characters on here (some with more money than sense, some with axes to grind and those with preconcieved prejudices/ideas who won't accept it when they are wrong) but it's always good for a laugh or two or three.

I agree with andrew289, all this is part of the "online world". With the time, you will be get used to it.

I'm into BBS, forums and discussion lists since 1995, I know what you are talking about. :)

Try and keep in mind that you may be misunderstanding the intent of the post/response. I don't think that people think I am treating them like an idiot, but quite often people do not take my responses the right way. I tend to be blunt, blunt to a fault maybe. But that's how I am in real life. If a question is asked, I answer it if I can. But not everybody likes the "way" I answer it. However, may others do.

I just see no sense in beating around the bush and trying to sugarcoat things just to make them sound better. Say what you gotta say and get it over with. The rest is just adjectives anyway.

I have to agree with some of the other posts. I dont see much bashing. I mean bashing is like "this coin is a piece of junk" I consider that bashing... but if someone's opinion differs from the original posters and they make it vocal that's not "bashing" that's a simple differing of opinions. That's what we are here for... even if the general consensus of the rest of the posters differs from the original posters... 99% of the time it's civil and informative whether the original poster takes it this way should be the question.
